| What |
Club meetings provide opportunities to meet people, learn about the club, and trade stories and ideas about the hobby. Meetings also provide a forum for late-breaking updates on upcoming events that may not be covered in the club newsletter. A typical meeting includes transaction of official club business, some "birthday babbles" in which club members recount their lifelong romance with rocks, possibly a presentation by an invited speaker, and refreshments. Some meetings are highlighted by special events, such as the August ice cream social and auction and the November election of officers. Guests and prospective members are always welcome. |
| When |
As specified in the by-laws of the club, the Tar Heel Gem & Mineral Club meets at 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month except December, which has no meeting. Exceptions to this schedule are generally noted in the club newsletter, although adverse weather may force a last-minute cancellation. |
| Where |
The meeting site is the N.C. State University Crafts Center, located in Raleigh near the JC Raultson Arboretum. The Crafts Center is housed in a brick building located at 516 Brickhaven Road. For reference it's close to the NC State Fair Grounds. |
