You may join the club or renew your membership by paying dues as specified in the by-laws of the club.
A membership is active from the time at which dues are paid until the
end of the calendar year. Dues are waived for persons under the age of
12, who must be accompanied by an adult family member. Annual dues for
persons 12 years of age or older are as follows:

You may pay dues to the club's treasurer in person at a club meeting via check or cash. You may also pay dues by mailing to the treasurer a check for the required amount, made out to Tar Heel Gem & Mineral Club, Inc. Be sure to include your name(s), postal address, e-mail address, and telephone number for inclusion in the annually published directory of club members.

A benefit of membership is the option of home delivery of the club newsletter, the Tar Heel Tailings, one copy per household. Some members prefer to read the newsletters
on the Internet rather than receive newsletters via U.S. mail. If you
wish to start or stop newsletter delivery to your household, you may
send a request to the newsletter editor by U.S. mail or by e-mail:

Certain positions are elective offices as described in the by-laws of the club, while other positions fall somewhere between volunteer and appointive roles.

Elections are held annually, at the November meeting of the club.
Volunteering is always welcomed. The club depends entirely on the
goodwill and efforts of its members.
